Come fly with Owls about Town!

Quietly tucked away in Selsey you will find Tango and his friends at home in their very own corner of the West Sussex countryside. We have a lovely 'Parliament' of Owls, from the largest Eagle Owls to the smaller Little Owl. Some of our birds have been re homed to us for all kinds of reasons and some have been hand reared and trained by ourselves. We are exceptionally passionate about our birds and their care and welfare is of the greatest importance to us. We offer opportunities to hold, fly and be up close and personal with some of the most majestic creatures in the world. Owls about Town was founded to educate and inform both children and adults about our birds. By offering instructional visits to schools, groups and individuals, we aim to increase the awareness of these beautiful creatures and actively encourage and promote their protection and conservation as well as create an opportunity where the public can experience close contact with our birds.

I'm thrilled to say we raised £6,000 on the day, and over £12,000 in total, with money still coming in! The support was astounding. With over a thousand people attending, I couldn't believe the first hour saw queues around the block! The sun shone, the Pimms flowed, the Military Wives Choir were magnificent, the Gurkhas brought everything to a standstill, Flash Mob Jazz were sensational and got everyone got in the party spirit and all ages were having fun competing in games and perusing our stalls. Your owls really were a highlight of the fete though. Anyone and everyone came up me and mentioned their time with you! I have lovely photos of my nan, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, meeting Hazel! A successful Open Day means so much to us and the kindness and generosity of you both was so greatly appreciated, it really added to the atmosphere of the day, keeping people entertained and engaged with the charity. All the money raised will go towards nursing, physiotherapy, speech therapy, outings, social and recreation activities, occupational therapy and many more life-changing services. Thanks to your contribution to the success of the day our veterans will progress, achieve and regain control so they can live independent and fulfilled lives following their disability or condition and not only did we raise a phenomenal amount for our heroes but the event will certainly spread word of QAHH and the work we do, which is invaluable. And your previous visit is still very much, the talk of the Hospital Home, with veterans regularly drawing and painting pictures of owls and their photos are prize possessions! You really have been so kind to us. Thank you so much again for making 2013 our most successful Open Day to date - your support really has meant a lot to everyone here and the impact you have made truly will last a lifetime. Best wishes Laura The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home"
